Description

Avian Canary

A modern, high-tech handlebar thats ultralight with progressive, modern geometry.

Raced by our Pro Team

We understand that with a handlebar, a primary concern is safety and reliability. For the ultimate test, we put the Avian handlebar on our UCI Continental Team's bikes. The Ferei Quick Panda Podium Mongolia Team are using mostly the Avian Falcon II handlebar with some riders opting for the Avian Canary on their climbing bike. As well as putting out monster watts, pro riders bikes are constantly being packed and unpacked and transported all around the world. It's the ultimate test of equipment durability.

Modern Geometry

The trend for narrower and narrower bars continues, and Avian are at the forefront of this trend offering the Canary in 36cm options measured at the hoods. a 5 degree flare for the drops gives an additional 2cm of width for sprinting in the drops. A short 70mm reach and compact 125mm drop make for a bar that's comfortable in a multitude of hand positions.

High-Tech Construction

Using the latest construction methods, stiffness to weight is maximized. The Canary is primarily a weight weenie handlebar. While it's very stiff for it's weight, the ultra lightweight nature means it's probably not a bar for heavier riders or big sprinters. Thoe looking for a stiffer bar can try out it's bigger brother, the Avian Falcon II.

High-end Accessories

The bolts supplied with the Avian bar are titanium, and the GPS computer mount is carbon fiber. While this bar may cost less than most big brands, "affordable" doesn't mean "cheap."

I love this bar. Obviously, it’s ridiculously light, but I also love the sizes. 360mm width is great for me. As a ~50kg rider, I don’t put too much torque through the bars, so I don’t notice any extra “flex” compared to other bars. That said, others have noted that in the drops, there’s more flex than a heavier bar. I’ve seen their testing videos, and it’s safe to use, but the flex may not be welcome for sprinters. Even the bigger guys say it’s fine in the hoods though. Extra flex also equals extra comfort, so… it’s swings and roundabouts. Cable routing was fine, and the low stack of the stem means it will be easy to replace any existing handlebar on a ready-cut steerer tube.

But, if you’re a lighter guy (<75kg) or your a bigger guy and you don't care about mad sprinting, I think this is a great bar.

I’m running this handlebar in size 360×120 on my SL8. I’m very happy with it so far.

Ordered 380x90mm combo, the weight is 245g so very happy with the bar. Everything is perfect.

I’ve purchased the 380x100mm bars. They are well made and looks great on the bike. Super lightweight at 245g. As far as stiffness goes, I’m 61kg and do not notice any flex while riding. Even when sprinting from the drops with my limited power. These bars work for me. However, when standing over the bars and muscling it side to side, there is noticable flex. If you are a heavier more powerful rider, I would consider other options.

Amazing!super nice to look at,maybe the spacers are a litlle to gray and plastick looking, but i can live with that…am just wondering..is it posible to get a file of the spacers to try to print them better at home?

As it comes to stifnes…i feel no flex. I am 70kg,210 ftp with best power on them 45 sec of 500w…they were stiff as i imagine bara should be. But i newer sprint on the drops,so i can not comment on flex while dooing that.

Very pleased with this bar. Bought 38cm x 100mm bar. Drops flair out to 40cm. Price is lower than other options. The bar is light. 250 grams on my scale. I weigh 150 pounds and the bar is plenty stiff for me. Looks good on my Tarmac SL8.

I bought it for my BMC Kaius, to replace ICS02 stem and handlebar combo. The prize is a no-brainer and with the adapter provided it looks great as well. The quality of the product feels very premium and I’ve given it a few good bumpy tests riding gravel and single-track.

Received the Handlebar a few weeks ago. For my trek madone sl. Ordered the wrong spacer (slr). After contact with customer service of pa da podium. The sent me the correct spacer for free. Good service.

    Installation was no problem.

When riding with the Handlebar it feels realy good. Just a bit more flex than the aluminium stock Handlebar. And I love the bracket for my garmin. Now the bike fits me like a glove.
